Roel Griffioen) with a screening of ‘As I said before, Borgerhout is a great place’ (2016) by the Antwerp based artist duo Vesna Faassen & Lukas Verdijk, and a conversation between Roel Griffioen and the artists.

De Frontlinie’ is a collection of critical essays exploring the intersections of recent art and housing policies, state-led gentrification, and the emergence of a ‘creative underclass’. With contributions by Pascal Gielen, Abel Heijkamp,  Adelita Husni-Bey, Frank Keizer, Łukasz Koterba, Isabell Lorey, Herbert Ploegman, Bent Vande Sompele, Rufus de Vries en Claudia Zeller. ‘De Frontlinie’ is designed by Jeremy Jansen, and produced by Rana Ghavami, with the support of the Mondriaan Fonds.

This event also marks the launch of Frontlinie.org, an online platform for reflections on the arts in the neoliberal city.

In ‘As I said before, Borgerhout is a great place’, inhabitants of the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural city district Borgerhout muse on the meaning of words such as ‘home’, ‘neighborhood’, ‘change’ and ‘newcomer’ in a world that is in flux. Duration: 14.34 min.

The book presentation and artist talk will be in Dutch.
