How do you describe your own art practice?
Using photography and video to get to see things that are otherwise hidden.
What was your first experience with art?
Making a clay horse in the studio of my neighbour, who is a sculptor.
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
The combination of reading books and being on the go usually gives rise to some ideas. Sometimes writing things or good conversations also turn into new works.
What do you need in order to create your work?
A lot of time, some people who assist me and a lack of paperwork.
What are you working on at the moment?
Some short stories that will maybe turn into photographic works, printing text with an old fashioned printing press, starting three new series,…
What work or artist has most recently surprised you?
I was writing a story last week and realised it accidently took place in the studio of Mark Manders. I have never been there but I know it from photographs I saw in a newspaper two years ago. Because of the fact that his studio became so important for one of my works, I began to look at his work more and more and got totally persuaded by his monumental sculptures.
And most definitely: the fictional stories of the Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges.
