How do you describe your own art practice?
Photo-based devices, animated electronic sculptures, sound and video installations.
Which question or theme is central in your work?
Juxtapositions of bodies, eyes, hands, tools, interfaces, autonomous machines, trees, roots, rocks, stones, dirt, wilderness, mythological archetypes, symbols, ideograms, intelligent systems, automated gestures, transformative technologies, soul machines, caves…
What was your first experience with art?
I remember visiting the archeological site of the oracle in Delphi. I remember the bronze statue of the adolescent Charioteer and his eyes that were very realistic. I was in elementary school and I got really scared. Later, my mom mother told me that I was conceived in the town of Delphi.
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
An urge to show how unexpected the world feels to me.
What do you need in order to create your work?
35mm film rolls for my camera and processing chemicals.
What work or artist has most recently surprised you?
Guadalupe’s Maravilla sonic sculptures with their healing energy, from his recent installation at the MoMA, was an inspiring encounter.
