How do you describe your own art practice?
When I make a work I am interested in relating issues such as the space in which it is situated, a corner in space for example can totally change how the work will be done, the nature, the sensation of movement even if it is invisible and especially the idea of suspension of time, try to suspend time through a work.
Which question or theme is central in your work?
My research uses different mediums mainly sculpture, painting, performance and installations that articulate relations between language, nature and ruin.
What was your first experience with art?
Deconstruction of a sacred image and then the reconstruction of the same piece, altering the location of the pieces, thus emptying the sacred image of any previous symbolic meaning.
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
Landscapes in general. How the elements relate to each other. Light entering the architecture of a space.
What do you need in order to create your work?
I do not need much. I can enter with no work in a space and start excavating (digging) its walls to turn the fragments into raw material for my own work.
What work or artist has most recently surprised you?
Philippe Glass and Ravi Shankar’s “Passages” album. It’s not an album recently, but it’s an album that since I recently listened I put it to work in my studio. They are two musicians from completely opposite cultures, where the result is a sublime landscape-music.
