How do you describe your own art practice?
I mostly take photographs. I’m interested in the process of transforming reality into a work of fiction and photography seems like a good medium to do this.
What was your first experience with art?
I grew up in a musical family so it was probably more related to music then visuality.
My Mom always say that from an early age I had a great eye for seemingly insignificant details.
What is your greatest source of inspiration?
I really like cutting out pictures from books and newspapers and almost randomly pairing them. It’s a fun exercise to see how the context changes the content of an image and it’s also a good source of visual inspiration.
What do you need in order to create your work?
Time.
What are you working on at the moment?
I got back to drawing quite a bit lately.
These drawings I’ve been working on are part of a larger project which focusing mainly on understanding my place within the context of a family structure. I feel I’m walking on thin ice with this project. I don’t want to create something too self-indulgent but rather something which can open a conversation about relationships.
This might seem banal to others but it took me quite a while to touch such a personal subject in my practice.
What work or artist has most recently surprised you?
The artist who recently surprised me the most was David Ostrowski’s first solo show ‘The Thin Red Line’ at Sprüth Magers in London.
