How do you describe your own art practice?

I use photography to question particular themes of interest.

Which question or theme is central in your work?

The ideas of identity & belonging have been the most important to me of late.

What was your first experience with art?

My first experience I remember was seeing a portrait of my parents taken by a friend of theirs who was a photographer & being amazed by the tones of the black and whites.

What is your greatest source of inspiration?

It’s always been the work of my peers. Living in a city like Wellington you are surrounded by such an incredible amount of creative talent.

What do you need in order to create your work?

To leave my routine.

What work or artist has most recently surprised you?

Geta Brātescu’s ‘The Power of the Line’ show at Hauser & Wirth in London was incredible.
