Tique asks six questions to an artist about their work and inspiration.
This week: Alberto Feijóo Rodríguez.

Artist Alberto Feijóo Rodríguez
Lives in Alicante, Spain

How do you describe your own art practice?

I am a collector, apprentice, accumulator, producer and visual artist interested in the materiality of the image and its relationships with other disciplines such as collage, sculpture, installation, books, fashion or design.

Which question or theme is central in your work?

In my work the concept of “representation” becomes a three dimensional artifact: fleeting, fragile and marginal.
My projects are crossroads between the everyday-life and the unknown. In my work you can see images at the top of each other questioning hierarchies and given structures. Images that features a mutant world in an unceasing movement.

What was your first experience with art?

I remember the first time I went to London (2007?) I run into a “Major Exhibition” by Gilbert and George at Tate Modern and I remember these contradictory feelings of repulsion and attraction. It was a strong experience to me.

What is your greatest source of inspiration?

My greatest source of inspiration is music. Through the music you could inhabit other worlds. I’m really interested in the relation between the intangibility of music and its visual response as a record cover/poster…

What do you need in order to create your work?

Stay in touch with other artists.

What work or artist has most recently surprised you?

I’ve been following Darren Bader (on IG @mined_oud) since a show I run into Sadie Coles Gallery in London back in 2018.
Bader demonstrates that the ready-made is still alive. His work is a mixture of conceptual art and humor.
